Cephalocon 2024 with 42on

Cephalocon 2024 with 42on

Cephalocon is just around the corner, taking place from December 4th to 5th, 2024! But what exactly is Cephalocon? The Ceph Foundation defines it as:

“Cephalocon is the yearly event that brings together the global community of operators, developers, and researchers for Ceph, the open source distributed storage system designed to provide excellent performance, reliability, and scalability. Join new and existing community members from around the world to learn more about Ceph and the future of the project from the developers writing the code and the operators deploying it at scale.”

This year, as silver sponsors, we are excited to bring a festive twist to the event with a Christmas-themed stand! Make sure to drop by, connect with our team, and share or expand your knowledge of Ceph.

When and where?

Cephalocon is an annual event that has previously taken place in cities like Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, and various locations in China. This year, Cephalocon 2024 will be hosted in Geneva, Switzerland. Not only is it the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the latest Ceph developments, but it also offers the chance to explore one of Europe’s most intriguing cities.

Geneva is renowned for its international charm and is home to CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research which is where the Cephalocon will take place. At CERN, you can witness groundbreaking research in physics, including the famous Large Hadron Collider and the birthplace of the World Wide Web. Combine your Cephalocon experience with a visit to this extraordinary scientific institution for a trip that’s both educational and inspiring.

What topics are covered?

Cephalocon discussions revolve around a range of subjects related to Ceph and cloud technology. In past years, 42on has shared valuable insights, such as:

This year promises another lineup of engaging topics. Some talks that seem particularly interesting to us include:

  • State of CephFS: Three easy pieces – Venky Shankar & Patrick Donnelly, IBM
  • Deploy Ceph in Kubernetes: Rook deep dive – Travis Nielsen & Subham Rai, IBM
  • Keeping Ceph RGW object storage consistent – Jane Zhu, Bloomberg
